David’s 25+ years experience in career planning and psychological consultation has been applied in organizational development as well as management of counselors and career development projects in a variety of settings, including healthcare, banking, international organizations, educational institutions, government, and private practice through his company, the Career Development Alliance (CDA).

David Reile is a licensed psychologist, National Certified Career Counselor, and Master Career Counselor. After achieving a master’s degree in community counseling with a specialization in career development from the University of Maryland, College Park, he went on to earn a Ph.D. in counseling psychology with a specialization in psychological assessment from Howard University. David has taught graduate courses in career development for many years at the University of Maryland, College Park, Johns Hopkins University, and most recently as a faculty associate at Loyola University in Maryland.

As the CDA Managing Director, David provides oversight of career counselors working in Washington, DC, New York, Atlanta, Dallas, Chicago, and San Francisco for the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation’s (FDIC) nationwide career management program.  This entails employing and managing counselors who provide weekly, individual career counseling and frequent in-person and online workshops to the FDIC’s 6,000+ staff.

In recent international work, CDA was called upon to present in Dubai, UAE to government officials. David spent two weeks leading training on career development and how to help youth engage in the workforce.

David has also served the professional community in the following ways:

​

  • The 2016-2017 president of the US National Career Development Association (NCDA).

  • Chair of the NCDA Ethics committee from 2004 – 2009, overseeing the 2007 and 2015 revisions of the NCDA Code of Ethics, receiving the 2007 NCDA Presidential Recognition Award for his work on the Code

  • Editor of Career Developments (1997-99) and the NCDA website, www.NCDA.org (2000-02);

  • Associate Editor, Career Convergence (2002-05); and was on the Editorial Board of the NCDA Journal, Career Development Quarterly (2002-2005; 2008-2015).

  • Keynoted local, regional, and state career development association conferences, including in his home state of Maryland where he is a lifetime member of the Maryland Career Development Association.

 

David has contributed to career development globally through the non-profit he founded. The R/S Foundation has been active in the establishment of the Kenya Career Development Association (where David helped to train the first career development professionals in Kenya) and the formation of the India Career Development Association (ICDA). David was one of the keynote speakers for ICDA’s first international conference, held in New Delhi in March 2013.
